Thomas Brandt serves as head of the local government and employment law section of Fanning Harper & Martinson, P.C. Tom's practice includes representation of cities, counties, school districts, public officials and private sector clients in the areas of civil rights and employment law.
Tom graduated with a joint degree (J.D./M.B.A.) from the University of Texas Law School and the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in 1985. Tom was awarded a Rotary Foundation Scholarship in 1988 to study international and comparative law in New Zealand.
In the summer of 2005, Tom was named as one of Texas Monthly magazine's Super Lawyers and is listed in the publication's October 2005 special edition honoring the nominees.
Tom has recently been appointed for another 2-year term as a Director of the St. Thomas More Society, by Bishop Charles Grahmann of the Diocese of Dallas. The St. Thomas More Society is an association of Catholic lawyers. Tom served as President of the Society for 3 years from 1999 to 2001, and has served on the Board of Directors of the St. Thomas More Society since the late 1990s. Tom has led the St. Thomas More Society's annual ethics seminar for the past five years. Tom has also served as President of the Dallas Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Tom has been married for 17 years and he and his wife have six children. Away from the office, Tom tries to keep up with his kids' schedules.
